North Pole Trip - Ski The Last Degree - April 2005

11 April 2005	Depart U.K. for Oslo
12 April 2005	Depart Oslo for Longyearbyen, Svalbard
	Meet group / sort and test equipment
13 April 2005	Packing the pulks (sledges)
	Snowmobile trip - polar bear spotting!
	Depart for Borneo Ice Station (approx 89 degrees North)
14 April 2005	Helicopter transfer to 89 degrees North
	Start skiiing to North Pole
20 April 2005	Arrive North Pole
21 April 2005	Helicopter transfer back to Borneo
23 April 2005	Arrive back in Longyearbyen, Svalbard
25 April 2005	Depart for Oslo and on to U.K.

North Pole Trip - Ski The Last Degree (Again!) - April 2007

Some people are just 'gluttons for punishment'! Although this trip involved skiing exactly the same distance as the first time to the Pole, the whole experience seemed vastly different - that's the amazing thing about travelling in this environment where the ice constantly moves and changes the landscape. On occasions this time we were drifting backwards almost as fast as we made progress skiing forwards towards our goal! In fact, strong ocean currents and bad weather conditions on this expedition were thought to be the cause of the ice runway breaking up at Barneo Ice Station, and another runway had to be constructed before any further flights could take place in and out of Base!


12 April 2007	Meet group in Longyearbyen, Svalbard
	Sort equipment and pack the pulks
13 April 2007	Early departure for Barneo Ice Station
	Helicopter transfer to 89 degrees North
	Start skiing to North Pole
14 April 2007	Tent-bound for one and a half days - bad weather!
15 April 2007	On the move again skiing towards the Pole
21 April 2007	Arrive at the North Pole
22 April 2007	Helicopter transfer back to Barneo
	Arrive back in Longyearbyen, Svalbard

North Pole 3 Day Trip - April 2007
For those of you 'out there' thinking that skiing 110km to the North Pole is a little too far, but would love a shorter mini-expedition to arrive at the top of the world and 'soak up' the atmosphere of this amazing landscape, the 3 day trip may be just the one for you! It is even possible to complete this shorter journey on snowshoes, if skiing really isn't your thing!

	23 April 2007	Meet group in Longyearbyen, Svalbard
		Sort equipment and pack the pulks
		Depart for Barneo Ice Station
		Helicopter transfer near to the Pole
	23-26 April 2007	Ski / snowshoe time spent exploring the polar landscape
	26 April 2007	Helicopter transfer to the North Pole before returning to Barneo
		Arrive back in Longyearbyen, Svalbard
	27 April 2007	Depart for Oslo and on to UK
